Inspiration

We were inspired by the hardships that people that are already food-insecure face on a daily basis. This challenge is amplified during a major crisis.

What it does

Connects donors to local food banks.

How we built it

Using HTML/CSS and JavaScript as a front-end. Using Node.js and mysql for a backend. Hashes passwords using SHA256.

Challenges we ran into

Setting up password matching, logos not appearing, POST requests not being received, and updated prototypes with functioning html.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Completing the project, working with the The Maps Embed API, having a successful login/sign-up system, and using password hashing.

What we learned

How to collaborate under a time constraint and how to function without sleep.

What's next for Food Scout

Creating the ability for food banks that are signed in to create their own postings for donations. Adding sessions/cookies to remember users.
