People's attitude about food waste
One day we saw a friend sitting beside us in our college mess throwing almost the entire plate of food. When we asked whether he thought anything before throwing the food, he laughed it off. After listening to him we realized how ignorant and indifferent people are towards the act of throwing away food. This compelled us to do something about the issue and hence we decided to solve this problem.
What it does
As we know We can control what we can measure.
Hence, we have built a unique web dashboard which provides: • Quantitative measurement of the environmental impacts (food, water, CO2 and calories) of food wasted by the user • Analyzing the user’s wastage data and depicting it through graphs and ranks. • Instant mail post dining intimating the user about the food they wasted and its impact.
The end goal is to make users reduce their wastage.
How we built it
The frontend of our Dashboard is made using:
- HTML
- CSS
- JS
Server Side is made using: PHP
Backend using: SQL
Frameworks used are:
- Bootstrap
- Chart.js
- jQuery
- Fullpage.js
One of the major sources of data is the research papers that we read during our Sustainable Engineering Course which we studied during our engineering and also from various sources across the Internet.
Challenges we ran into
- Getting the initial data was a major hurdle.
- Lack of time.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Implementing most of our planned ideas in such a short amount of time.
- We are extremely proud of how our dashboard works and looks like.
- Successfully updating our database with more than 100 Dishes
What we learned
- It's not just the idea that matters but how we structurize it.
- Each member of the team is equally important.
- How to fit a lot of free stuff in one bag.

a. Integrated with ordering system b. Choosing the right suppliers c. Ensures minimum wastage of raw materials
3. Pre-Preparation Manager
a. Decreases waiting time for customers b. Reduces food waste c. Optimize use of manpower
