Inspiration
We were inspired to build this project due to many reasons. First and foremost, the theme of this hackathon is food, so we decided to build a food-based game. Secondly, we thought that catching falling object game logic is really cool, so we decided to adopt the idea.
What it does
The gameplay is really simple in which you use the arrow keys to move your character around to collect foods from different food groups. If you have too little or too much of a food group, or you get the rare chance of being hit by a jack-o-lantern, you will die.
How we built it
We used the Python library, PyGame, to complete the project.
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a couple challenges, especially that it is our first time using PyGame. In addition, we ran into a problem with text in PyGame.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of the fact that we were able to complete this much in the short time window we had, especially since it was our first time using PyGame.
What we learned
We learned how to use PyGame to create games in Python.
What's next for Food Group Frenzy
We want to fix all the bugs in it and maybe upgrade the text to working bars.
