Inspiration
We take inspiration from an emerging Tik Tok trend where individuals film themselves taking their first bites of the day, which encourages those struggling to do the same. Consistent positive feedback and comments that explicitly state that this type of content helped them is what makes us believe that an idea like ‘food friends’ could benefit a great number of individuals.
What it does
Anyone who needs a distraction from their meal, needs someone to support them through a meal, or simply needs a friend, can join us on ‘food friends’ to find a friend to share a meal with!
How we built it
food friends was designed using Figma, and build using HTML and CSS
Challenges we ran into
This was our team's first time building a website so it took a bit of time for us to get the hang of things. Although we had lots of features we planned to add to 'food friends', we had to stick with coding just the essentials due to the tight schedule.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're very happy with the design of food friends! Since we're all beginners we were worried about the website not looking like how we planned. We all learned a great amount on frontend development and are super proud of how food friends turned out!
What we learned
As our whole team was very unfamiliar with HTML and CSS, we did not start our project with much knowledge of how to make a website. After coding food friends together, we all became much more comfortable with making websites.
What's next for food friends
- improvements on backend
- profiles for more compatible matches based on mutual interests
- discussion forums to anonymously discuss their relationship with food, or just about anything
- meeting prompts/games for when it gets awkward :o
- animated background :p
