The create post page. Organizations can create posts here, with a specific date and event
Inspiration
According to California State University (CSU) data, 27% of Cal Poly students experience food insecurity. Additionally, students might feel embarrassed using services like the food pantry, as they think they are taking resources away from others. Food Finder allows students to find local events which offer free food
What it does
Clubs and other resources can post local events in which free food and services will be offered to the community. This allows more people to engage with these services that they might not know about. The clubs or other resources gets more engagement, which is useful for the event, and the user gets a free meal. Its a win-win!
How we built it
We built the website using javascript, react, and css
Challenges we ran into
We ran into problems with our logo failing to fit, as well as image uploading in general that we had to overcome. We also struggled with the time limit, and only managed to upload the video at the last second
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We managed to get the color scheme of the website consistent across the entire website
What we learned
We learned how to code the frontend, as for some of our team members, it was their first time coding a frontpage We also learned how to function better as a team, working together such that each individual can work on one aspect of the project
What's next for Food Finder
We want to add organization profiles, such that organizations can easily upload repetitive events We want to be upload images with our posts We also want to add searching and sorting such that users can find dates and incorporate it into their schedule
