Inspiration
Everyday uni life (aka my roommate)
What it does
(Theoretically) Allows user to scan the food expiry date. Date recognised stored into calendar ready to send a message warning of expiry a day before through the use of twilio. Also suggest recipe to use almost expired items and possibly other items. They can also check items used off, put in dietary requirements, specify if an item such as a sauce has been opened (and thus must now be used within 3 days) or enter manual expiry dates.
How we built it
Pictures are brainstorm done in canva We didn't, well we have a small layout but got stuck with a lack of ability which we tried to fix by looking at tutorials but it was very hard (tried many different solutions)
Challenges we ran into
Many many many challenges (very frustrating but good in a way) Tried initially using swift with xcode developement interface, ran into problems with our macs being not recent/sufficient to use/download xcode. Then moved to trying using a website and javascript however tried learning stuff which when implemented would not work (databases, server side javascript, design). We were then suggested to use servless which we tried but still were not great with databases but we tried.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Persevering through the frustration of being limited by our knowledge in coding
What we learned
Quite a lot of different javascript stuff, express, fetch, get etc. Learned about twilio which will definitely be using in the future
