Inspiration
- We wanted to educate kids about healthy and unhealthy foods. So, we decided to make a game to teach them how to make good choices about food. ## What it does
- The game starts on a start screen that explains how to play the game. The player has to use WASD to move and the objective of the game is to collect a key, then go to the cage to unlock it and retrieve the good food (apple). There are cookies that travel around the screen randomly and the player has to avoid them while trying to unlock the cage. If they are hit by the cookies, it will take them back to the menu screen. ## How we built it
- We programmed our game in Java.
## Challenges we ran into
- About 7 hours in, we realized we over-complicated things, and had to take a step back and really think and understand what we were doing. After the realization, we could work more efficiently. ## Accomplishments that we're proud of
- We're proud that we were able to apply our previous knowledge to create a game that achieved our goal of educating kids about healthy food choices.
## What we learned
- We learned how to implement sprites into Java and use keyListener because we did not have any previous knowledge about how to use these things before-hand. ## What's next for Food Escape
- Since we only created one level of the game, we want to add more levels with different healthy food while increasing the difficulty of the game. We can add to the difficulty of the game by making "junk food" faster, and add more of them. We can also make more cages to unlock, using different colored keys. Additionally, after each level, we want to add information about the food that escaped jail to teach kids about nutrition and why they should eat healthy foods.
