The Foods we eat also contributes immensely to Global Warming and Greenhouse Gaseous Emissions.

The Food We eat contributes around 37 per cent of global greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, showing the huge impact that our diets have on climate change. What’s more, animal-based foods produce roughly twice the emissions of plant-based ones.

For instance recent Scientific Studies, show that high consumption of meat and dairy products is what contributes most to the climatic Change and has a serious impacts on the environments while Switching to a plant-based diet can help fight climate change.

Realistically, everyone eats food but not everyone knows the impact of those consumed foods in our environments.

We develop this applications using Monday.com SDK, Monday.Com Storage API, Google Charts etc. to help all Climatic Change Analyst, Food Carbon Environmentalist, Food Biochemist, Food Processing Teams etc. to easily Analyze, quantify and Visualize the impact of the foods/diets that we eat impacts on our environments.

This application can also be used by all monday.com users like individuals, various families, Lecturers, Professors, Students etc. as a learning platform to easily study effects of food/diets (Breakfast, Lunch, Supper ) etc. and its impacts on our Climatic Environment. This in turn will help in selecting and eating more of those foods that has smaller effects on the environments.

By building our application on top of Monday.com Network, it makes study of the impacts of our Diets on the Climate an easy task.

What it does

Foods Carbon Emission Calculator is an interactive Application design to help educate people and various communities to see, visualize and analyze how the food they eat impacts on our environments by triggering global warming and greenhouse Gaseous Emissions.

We all eat Foods. Its now to put all hand on desk to see how the foods we eat on daily basis contributes to climatic change. You can see the amount of carbon emitted in each of the meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Super) that we prepared and eaten on daily basis.

How the Application Works

1.) Your Team Admin will first Create Board From the Applications. This will automatically create Columns on the Boards. All submitted data are stored on Monday.com Boards/Items. Once Board has been created by Team Admin, Every other members of your account can start using the application

2.) To calculate your Food Carbon Emission Index, You will need to select all the foods and ingredients used in preparing that Particular meal. For instance to Prepare Jellof Rice for Launch, You will need Rice, Palm Oil, Egg, Meat, Onions, Tomatoes etc.

Consequently, You will also need to indicate if the Meal is for (Breakfast, Lunch, Super) etc. and Time for which the Meal was prepared/eaten.

The application allows you to easily pick all the food ingredients for that particular meal and calculate them for Food Carbon Emission index

3.) Each Time a Team Member does Food Carbon Emission Analysis, a Notification is sent to Admin to that effect.

4.) We use Google Chart Distribution Analysis to help users visualize all the Foods ingredients used in preparing a particular meal along with their amount of emitted carbon per food ingredients respectively.

5.) We also Google Chart Distribution Analysis to visualize, analyze and compare the total carbon emitted in each of the Meal (Breakfast, Lunch, Super) etc. that you have eaten along with dates and time for which the meal was eaten/prepared..

How we built it

We First of all researched on various Food and Foods Ingredients along with their respective Carbon Emission Values. We then Compute all that.

We used Monday SDK/API to create Board and Store all Content on Board/Item.

We Used monday storage API to store Board Id and thus ensures that Board/Item contents are available to all registered team members.

We also store some foods items and Carbon Data onto our database via php and Mysql using Monday's Users ID and Board ID to enable us per Chart analysis of Foods Carbon Emission data via Chart Distribution Analysis.
