Inspiration

NUS students generally stay and travel around their home Faculty. Hence they would only experience the food stalls in that area. Many areas in NUS remains unexplored. Some of the areas may contain good food.

At the same time, some food stalls provides subpar quality food. Students ought not to experience those.

What it does

Food provides a platform for students to give their reviews on the stalls that they visit. Through reviews, students are able to identify the good and the not so good stalls. Students would not need to suffer from subpar quality food.

Also, Food provides suggestions randomly from food stalls that receive more than 4 stars so that students could plan their time to travel to the specific store to experience it.

How we built it

We used telegram bot as the front end as supported with Flask and SQL database

Challenges we ran into

Initially we wanted to do up an app with react native front end and SQL backend. However the process is tedious with many instances of installing the wrong version of the dependencies. As a result, the Expo go server crashes very frequently and could not run the app that we created.

Having most of the time spent on the expo react native app, we tried to savage the project by building telegram bot as the front end. Though it may not have the best interface, it is sufficient for students to start using since the target audience are mainly NUS students which likely have the know how to interface with telegram bot.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

What we learned

What's next for Food

We wanted to expand Food like the next GrabFood, this is such that students are able to enjoy this delicious food in different areas despite being in the home faculty.
