Inspiration

Homelessness has always been a problem within the UK. Even in a city as developed as Manchester, homelessness can still be seen. Empathy was our motivation, by ensuring the minimum human rights such as access to food, we spread equality around our community and hope for those who needed it the most.

What it does

Distributing surplus of food from food banks around the districts of the UK, with a central control board.

How we built it

We build it with the help of the cutting edge technology namely Palantir along with free food bank APIs, we were able to set up a comprehensive workplace for real-time food surplus distribution.

Challenges we ran into

Implementing Typescript function into Palantir buttons, for communication of data between Ontologies that have been set up with the dataset. We were able to confront and solved the problem with the use of data aggregation of ontology and successfully implemented what we aimed for.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Learning Palantir from scratch was challenging, it was not easy to grasp the ideas of how the data flows around workshops as well as creating ontologies from dataset. By carefully reading the documentation and seeking help from enthusiastic technical assistance, we were able to get a well enough understanding of the foundry in 24 hours, which we are quite proud of.

What we learned

Communication between group members was not an easy task, skills such as active listening and persuasive reasoning were challenged with each of the group members. However, as long as we all work together towards a common goal with patience, there is always a way out, therefore we should all fight to the last moment.

What's next for Food distributor for food banks

Apart from food, there are other needs of humanitarian aid for homelessness, such as shelters and even a job. By utilizing the same logic, we might be able to allocate resources faster and more efficient so that those in need will be supported as soon as possible.
