Inspiration
We were inspired to build Food Bank after learning about the huge problem of food waste and food insecurity. We wanted to make a difference by connecting people and organizations with surplus food to local food banks and shelters.
What it does
Food Bank is an app that makes it easy to donate surplus food to those in need through homeless center. Users(restaurants) can connect with local organizations and arrange for food pick-up and distribution.
How we built it
We built Food Bank using GPS mapping and real-time tracking technology. We made sure the app was user-friendly and had a simple interface. We have only built it in mobile view dimensions.
Challenges we ran into
One of the biggest challenges we faced was the time constraint. We only had 12 hours to build the app for a hackathon, so we had to work quickly and efficiently to get everything done. Another challenge was our lack of knowledge in certain areas, such as food safety regulations and logistics. We had to do a lot of research and work closely with our mentors to make sure the app was safe and effective.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have built something in just 12 hours and learned so much about food management and logistics. We gained valuable experience in programming and app development and were able to apply this knowledge to Food Bank.
What we learned
Through the development of Food Bank, we learned the importance of time management, effective collaboration, and user-centered design. We also gained valuable experience in programming and app development, which will be useful in future projects.
What's next for Food Bank
We plan to take some time to research and assess the market, and determine if we want to continue working on Food Bank
