Inspiration

The scarcity of food in a particular community is one of the most visible signs of poverty. It's unjust that people on one side of the world waste food while people on the other side die for one meal. We need to do something about the inequality in our world so that everyone has access to food and no one has to go hungry. Monitoring the freshness and quality of the food we buy is important for maintaining a healthy lifestyle. People often find it difficult to keep track of when their food expires, and as a result, it often goes to waste. In other cases, people may forget to buy food before they run out.

What it does

Our container or module can predict the remaining shelf life of food items and check the remaining quantity before it runs out. This way, you can be sure that you always have fresh food on hand and you won't waste any food out of freshness. The software helps to distribute food more effectively to those who need it most. By predicting the shelf life of food, we can share extra food with needy people, and our application can track the needy people and can effectively distribute it to them. On a reward basis, we can support the houses that provide more food to the poor. Let some extra food become a meal for some extra people.

How we built

both hardware and software play an equal role in monitoring the quality of food items. By using different sensors like: DHT11 (Add all the other sensors) We can monitor the temperature, humidity, and the atmospheric conditions An ultrasonic sensor is used to measure the quantity of the content of the item present in respective jars. This data is collected by a microcontroller and with machine learning using tinyml and processing the data can be compared and the necessary predictions are prepared, The prepared output is received, processed, and displayed in our app. With the data, one can decide whether to share and distribute their remaining food item to poor people. The basic web application can be made using HTML, CSS, and JS The backend for the prototype can be implemented using FLASK and database MYSQL. Hosting platform pythonanywhere

Challenges we faced

To predict the shelf life it was difficult

created a network for fast and effective waste management along with food donation

What we learned

With one night a lot can happen

food and feed

Integrating machine learning to predict the shelf life better
