Inspiration
To reduce the amount of food wasted to prevent hunger and poverty.
What it does
Our website is an attempt to reduce food wastage. It provides UI to understand the different about attributed related to food wastage and causes of food wastage. We do Exploratory data analysis and analyze the data about food wastage. A page( from customer side) to look for food donating houses near you and in your city. Donating house will donate good food and without cost. Description of house address and type of food will be given. Chatbot suggest recipes based on user input, and provide information on local food banks or donation centers.
How we built it
We used HTML and css for creating our web pages. We also used python, Jupyter notebook, numpy, pandas and matplotlib for the exploratory data analysis. We created a chatbot and then tried to integrate the chatbot to our website but were not able to complete it.
Challenges we ran into
Understand and learn UI, HTML , CSS. How to integrate backend and frontend, create UI of chatbot, create authentication pages, finding real world dataset.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We learnt how to analyse data, use of matplotlib for visual analytics, use of chatbot library. We learn many insights about all the reasons that cause food wastage and its intensity as a cause for hunger. We learn HTML and CSS. We also learn there can be preventive measures that can be taken. Also, we learn team work and planning to accomplish a task.
What's next for Food Aid
-Backend can be integrated. -Show location points on map for open refrigerators. -Account creation and login pages. -Page for a person to donate food. -Data analysis on real time data and update real time graphs based on EDA. -We can create the website so that it can be used on global level.
