Walking through the streets in San Francisco and in the downtown of most cities of the Bay Area, it is apparent there are thousands of people in need who do not have immediate access to meals. Our app and website take in the user's location and lets them know the nearest location to get free food, coming from a large database of locations across the Bay Area. We made the website using HTML, Javascript, and Wix. We made the app using Xcode (Swift). It was difficult to compare the distances to the places that provide meals from the user's location; the user's location was given in coordinates, whereas the locations were determined by street addresses. Thus, we had to use Google Earth to translate these back and forth. We are proud of making a project with programming languages that we have never used before; we learned a lot about app design and website design. In the future, we would like to add more locations and make the app have more features, including being able to get in contact with people from the food banks.
