FOLQO
Inspiration At trade shows, promising conversations often end with an exchanged business card and no clear follow-up. We wanted to turn that brief meeting into a relationship with a shared understanding of what happens next. Our first idea was to show two people different interfaces on opposite sides of one foldable phone. Testing the iPhone Duo made the physical limitation clear: both people could not comfortably read the screens in that position. We pivoted to a more practical model—each person uses their own device, with a shared conversation board and a private workspace. What it does FOLQO guides a professional relationship from first contact to follow-up. A user can find or add someone from an event, send a connection request, discuss priorities, choose a possible path together, and record a final decision: continue together, keep in touch, or not the right fit. The contact record then holds the next step, notes, messages, a proposed meeting, and attachments. The prototype includes an editable personal profile and an automatic demo that shows the complete journey in about 45 seconds. How we built it We built FOLQO as a native SwiftUI app in Bitrig. Its layout adapts to the iPhone Duo’s inner and outer displays, while hinge awareness helps describe the current device state. Conversation and decision logic live in separate models. Profiles, contacts, and demo messages are saved locally; files are copied into the app’s local storage. For the hackathon demo, Host and Guest are simulated in one app instance so the full experience can be shown on one simulator. We compiled the app and tested the conversation, decision, and persistence flows. Challenges and lessons The biggest challenge was designing around the Duo’s real physical behavior instead of an imagined screen arrangement. We also had to keep every step readable and reachable as the available display space changed. That constraint improved the idea. We learned that the most valuable feature was not speculative AI: it was helping two people leave a meeting with an explicit decision and a next action. Real account authentication, communication between devices, and cloud synchronization are the next steps beyond this local prototype.
