Inspiration -

Based on our experiences in professional corporate environments and government, one of the most difficult and frustrating challenges to overcome is following up on the many projects occurring simultaneously among team members. As well as tracking down who owns what tasks, and who is waiting on particular tasks to complete.

What it does -

What it was intended to do was to clearly visualize and define responsibilities and dependencies among team members in a project. Offer automated follow up to notify members when next steps are required, and who is awaiting their efforts.

How I built it -

A simple web application developed using NodeJS and Express that runs atop a Heroku cloud server.

Challenges -

Picking up new technology, NodeJS and ExpressJS that we have never used before. Collaborating through GitHub.

Accomplishments that we are proud of -

We learned a lot about web application structure and the structure of an Express application and a little about DOM manipulation, we also got the application hosted on Heroku as well. This Hackathon has been a learning experience, and although we didn't manage to create a functioning application with our vision for a product, we learned a lot along the way.

What I learned -

The general structure of an Express web app. We also learned how to collaborate through GitHub as well as live share code sessions in VSCode. While we did not have the time to implement functionality for the app we envisioned, we learned a lot about many different subjects from cloud computing to web apps to project management.

What's next for FollowThru -

Moving forward we intend to invest time in learning the Express framework and Dom Manipulation which will be core competencies needed to begin implementing our vision for the app.
