I am building a solar only catamaran and I am writing control software to steer and autopilot the vessel.

Provides map view of journey. Provides depth indicator from google map data. Provides compass from position data. Allows piloting and autopilot via blue tooth to the motors.

One method at a time starting with the motor controllers and simulation.
