Inspiration

"Building a portfolio" is one of the most common search terms. With increasing competition, the top 5% of professionals strive to showcase their work to gain recognition. I did the same thing, I created my portfolio earlier using Wordpress and then using Canva.

Although designing my portfolio gave me creative independence, it was painstaking and harder to maintain. Every edit would take hours. Many also asked me about how I did it, and these people were not tech-savvy. Therefore, a very tech-driven process would immediately disinterest them.

Due to this, I was seeking various easy and affordable options to build a portfolio. When I couldn't find one that ticks all the boxes, I decided to build one.

What it does

Foliopages helps anyone and everyone build their portfolio within 10 minutes, without any prior knowledge of coding or design. Foliopage is my effort to democratise the portfolio-building process by making it simpler and easier for anyone to use.

How I built it

The tool was built entirely in Bolt without any assistance from other AI tools. Along with Bolt, I used Supabase, Netlify, and Entri for the domain.

Challenges I ran into

This has been a rollercoaster ride for me. I had to figure out everything, from authentication and database building to deployment setup, etc.

One of the prominent challenges I encountered was setting up payment. Stripe is currently invite-only in India, so my application got rejected. And it wasn't easy to move to revenue cat in the last movement.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

The MVP is up and running. It doesn't matter how great the idea is; all that matters is execution. I am pleased with the output. Happy with the build and the process. I almost gave up when my free tokens ran out. I didn't do anything for over a week. But then, I finally decided to finish what I had started.

What I learned

Vibe coding is the future. Software engineering has been democratized; now you don't need to know or learn a coding language. All you need to know is the logic, which will help you read the code.

What's next for Foliopages

The next steps are to set up payment and add a Pro plan. There are many things that I would love to see in the product. I know the roadmap for 1 year is already in place.
