Inspiration
I chose to create a mental health tracker, and I thought about problems I faced every day. Then I came to realize that whenever I'm on my computer for very long or I'm typing a lot in a short period of time, my wrists and my eyes get strained.
What it does
FocusPulse tracks a user’s focus session and shows a green, yellow, or red status light based on fatigue. It supports different activity modes like studying, coding, gaming, reading, and creative writing. When the user reaches a break point, FocusPulse launches a recovery protocol such as breathing or stretching. It also includes mood check-ins, demo mode, saved settings, recovery history, and a recovery summary.
How we built it
We built FocusPulse with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The frontend handles the timer, fatigue score, settings, activity modes, mood check-in, recovery exercises, and local storage. Vercel was used to deploy/publish the problem online.
Challenges we ran into
A challenge I ran into when building this was Vercel not deploying the project online. We had to take several different approaches to finally get the link to be published.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The accomplishments I feel proud of are the different modes we have installed and the demo modes for quick use to make sure everything is working.
What we learned
I learned that sometimes when things go wrong you have to try to find different strategies that yield the same outcome.
What's next for FocusPulse
I hope to add different modes not just for computer use but also for outside events.
