The problem

Many people have had a difficult time adjusting to working from home, mostly due to their lack of familiarity with working outside of a typical office setting as well as the distractions of being at home with their family, making it difficult for them to focus on their work

The solution

The solution is a way to organize the tasks that you have to do throughout the day using this easy to use browser-based application. Simply create some tasks and progress the tasks from being on the backlog, to being in progress to being complete.

To help users focus on making one task at a time, the app draws inspiration from the Pomodoro technique, and makes it possible to start 25 minute "work sprints" during which the user is expected to focus on just one task and try to complete it, after which they are supposed to take a 5 minute break, as sitting in front of the computer too long can be very bad for your health.

The goal behind this is to offer some structure by creating a time-constraint that will push the user to try and finish the current task at hand, through a gamification technique that can be very successful.

The solution you bring to the table (including technical details, architecture, tools used)

I'm a software engineer and I've chosen to quickly put together this browser-based application using JavaScript as a way to validate the concept, aside from a couple of libraries here and there, there's nothing too fancy.

What I've done during the weekend

During this weekend I've built a minimum viable product with no cloud functionality, just client side storage as a way to demonstrate the capabilities of this project.

The solution’s impact to the crisis

Anyone can take advantage of this free to use piece of software, accessible from any desktop or laptop with a web browser installed. Ideally, this would become a way for people to keep themselves organized when performing their day to day tasks while working from home.

The necessities in order to continue the project

More time would need to be spent in order to add some cloud syncing functionality and to clean up the codebase, as well as explore adding other user-friendly features, perhaps turning this into a paid-for product for those that want additional features.

The value of the solution after the crisis

This product can help increase the user's productivity every day, not just during the Covid-19 crisis, so this solution will benefit the user even after this pandemic is over.
