Inspiration

Long-form articles, research papers, and technical documents can easily overwhelm readers with information overload. We built FocusChunk to help users retain key insights effortlessly by processing wall-of-text content into digestible, focused pieces.

What it does

FocusChunk transforms dense reading material into clear, structured "chunks." Users can input long text, navigate smoothly through individual sections, and trigger real-time AI simplification to grasp complex concepts instantly.

How we built it

• Frontend & UI: Native Android application developed using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose for a modern, responsive layout.
• AI Integration: Powered by Gemini AI to perform text summarization and simplification on demand.
• Architecture: Clean state management ensuring responsive navigation across text chunks.

Challenges we ran into

• Optimizing text-segmentation algorithms to chunk content naturally without losing contextual meaning.
• Ensuring dynamic UI rendering in Jetpack Compose while updating state smoothly during AI processing.
