Inspiration
As new college students ourselves, who have never had such a long break between instruction, we decided that we needed an app that would increase our studying efficiency and focus, hence the name Focus. We also believe that with collaboration, comes the best of a person's comprehension, so we wanted a way to personalize group study efficiently.
What it does
Our app sets a study and break session in which group members can join and contribute key notes to the topic at hand. Depending on whether or not the user believes the information is important, they can like the information and save it for future reference.
How we built it
Initially, we wanted to combine swift with Springboot, however, the process of ensuring our jdk's were up to date and functional ultimately moved us to use Swift alongsideGoogle's Firestoredatabase using JSON.
Challenges we ran into
Our initial foray into Springboot was unsuccessful, in turn, losing us over more than half of the event. This tunnel vision prevented us from making major process until our switch to Firestoredatabase.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As rookie developers, we are extremely proud that our app functions.
What we learned
We learned that tunnel vision is extremely scary in a crunched time period and that our technology at times is not the most reliable.
What's next for Focus
We want to expand and solidify the online interactions between group members, and the overall interface integration on different platforms. This would allow us to expand our market and gain valuable feedback on new UI updates for a cleaner, more user friendly experience.
