Inspiration

I've always had a habit of coming up with ideas everywhere I go — and travel is one area where I felt something was missing. Most travel platforms just give you a checklist of places, but they don't make the trip feel meaningful. I wanted to build something that goes beyond basic planning and adds real depth and personality to every journey — inspired by real routes I've explored across India and neighboring countries.

What it does

Trailz Uncharted is a travel platform that helps users:

  • Discover hidden routes and offbeat destinations across India, Bhutan, Nepal, Malaysia, Singapore, and Oman
  • Explore curated travel stories through integrated Instagram reels
  • Build a personalized trip plan in seconds using the built-in trip planner
  • Get real-time travel guidance and booking support via WhatsApp integration
  • Chat with a built-in travel assistant for quick questions on routes, reels, and bookings

How I built it

I used OpenAI Codex to build the entire platform — from the homepage and route showcase to the trip planner and WhatsApp-based booking system. Working solo, I focused on shaping the core idea, structuring the user journey, and using AI-assisted coding to bring the concept to life quickly and efficiently. The site is hosted on Netlify.

Challenges I ran into

  • Narrowing down the many ideas I had into one clear, focused concept
  • Designing a user journey that feels personal rather than like a generic travel app
  • Managing every part of the project alone — from ideation to execution — within the hackathon timeline
  • Integrating booking and chat features smoothly using AI-assisted development

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

  • Turning a broad idea into a clear, working, live product — not just a concept
  • Building a fully functional travel platform solo using AI tools
  • Creating something that stands out with real destination content and a working booking flow
