About the Project We’re building a focus-first study app designed to support neurodiverse and underrepresented students, especially those who often feel left out by traditional education tools. Our goal is to create a learning experience that adapts to each student’s unique needs, cognitively, emotionally, and practically. The app includes several key features:

  • Voice-based Feynman Study Tool
Students explain what they’ve learned aloud. The app uses AI to provide real-time feedback on clarity and comprehension, encouraging deeper understanding through the Feynman Technique.
  • AI-Powered Task Breakdown
Large or overwhelming projects are broken into smaller, manageable steps. This gives students a clear and structured path forward.
  • Motivator AI
A supportive AI companion that delivers personalized encouragement, stress management tips, and mental wellness support during the learning process.
  • Pomodoro Timer
A customizable timer based on the Pomodoro Technique. Students work in timed focus sessions with short breaks and earn longer breaks after several cycles. This approach is proven to reduce fatigue and improve focus. By blending emotional support, executive function aids, and adaptive learning tools, we’re not just building a study app. We’re building a companion that empowers every learner to feel capable, supported, and included.

What Inspired Us Traditional education tools often follow a one-size-fits-all model. But for many students, especially those with ADHD, dyslexia, or executive dysfunction, these tools can feel inaccessible or overwhelming. We were inspired by the real challenges students face, like staying focused, breaking down big tasks, managing stress, and understanding complex concepts. We asked ourselves: What if a study tool could support not just learning, but also mental and emotional wellbeing? This question led us to create something more holistic, a tool that adapts to students instead of forcing students to adapt to it.

Challenges We Faced

  • Designing a simple interface without sacrificing essential features
  • Creating AI feedback that feels helpful, supportive, and human
  • Ensuring accurate voice transcription across different speech patterns and accents
  • Tuning the tone of the Motivator AI so it encourages without being intrusive

What We Learned

  • Emotional support is just as essential as academic support
  • Clear task breakdowns help reduce overwhelm and boost engagement
  • AI can play a meaningful role in helping students feel heard and supported

What’s Next We plan to expand the app’s functionality by:

  • Adding adaptive learning paths based on user performance
  • Supporting a wider range of learning styles (visual, auditory, kinesthetic)
  • Integrating daily mood check-ins and study reflections

Final Thought This isn’t just a study tool. It’s a reimagined learning experience. By supporting students emotionally and cognitively, we’re creating a space where every learner can thrive.
