FOCA

Inspiration

We inspired by a lot of food have been wasted, we see that in the USA, up to 40 % of all foods produced goes uneaten and about 95% discarded food ends up in landfills, and this is the largest component of municipal solid waste. decomposing food waste produces methane, a strong greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. And not only that, in Worldwide, one-third of food produced is thrown away uneaten, causing an increased burden on the environment. We also know that a lot of people cannot afford to buy food. That is why we want to help people to get food and also save our environment by reducing food waste.

What it does

We made an application name FOCA, FOCA can be a solution to help reducing food waste, with FOCA people can find a leftover food to donate with a lower price of its original price. Not only for helping reduce food waste, FOCA also has a social impact that can help people who is starving. With FOCA, leftover food that already paid by someone to donate can be claim by any people free.

How we built it

We built our application with 2 platforms, which are android and website. We using kotlin language to built our android app, angular and typescript to built our front end website, for back end we used node.js to built API and deploy it using vercel, and also we used firebase as our database.

Challenges we ran into

We're ran into problems like:

2. We using new programming language that we just learned such as angular

What's next for FOCA

We want to created solution to reduce carbon emissions that also impact in our environment, and we want to combine that in our application
