FMD (face mask detector)

fmd stands for face mask detector . it uses machine learning to tell whether a person is wearing mask and how well he or she is wearing it . which is helpful to tackle the pandemic .

Inspiration

i was inspired to make this project by seeing the rapid rise of corona cases in my country and especially the banks because they were open all the time even during the lockdown . then when i sat an asked myself what would be the possible reason of rise then suddenly i remembered people not wearing mask on the street and i thought i need to help in stoping this and help the people who are doing their jobs during this pandemic such as banks so i then decided to make this project

What it does

it identifies whether the person is wearing a mask or not and it also tells that the person has put on the mask properly or not by using cctv or webcam recordings or live monitoring

How I built it

i built with some libraries like cv2 and tensorflow .

Challenges I ran into

enabling live monitoring in google colab as it does not fully support the webcam and as i was new to colab it was difficult to integrate all the files together

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

i am proud that i made a project which is helpful to the people who work in this pandemic and has a good social impact

What I learned

i learned how to tackle errors and i learnt about cv2 module
