Inspiration

Travel is the only expense that makes you richer. By integrating USDC and DAI payments into a flight booking platform, our mission is to make travel inclusive and affordable for all. Many travel sites refuse card payments from certain country. With flywallet that is no longer an issue. Our goal is to accelerate web3 adoption by enabling travellers and businesses to use stablecoins as payment method with minimal friction. We are a real life uses case for all.

What it does

  • Flywallet is a booking service for customers who wish to spend tokens on travel.
  • Flywallet accepts booking request via rest-api method then places it inside the smart-contract. Once requested payment is processed, smart contract automatically returns a booking confirmation. Furthermore, the service pays for the fees and provides transaction receipt along with custom metadata, and sends USDC or DAI value into the designated business wallet. We envision to become a web3 API for travel companies wishing to expand their offering.

How we built it

  • We forked existing flight booking infrastructure within the Flywallet platform, and adapted it to enable bookings with cryptocurrencies as a payment method. We've built an easily extensible platform that can be harnessed by partners with various travel needs, and all through it, we've managed to remain non-custodial. Challenges we ran into

  • We had to innovate around the age-old problem of interoperability of financial systems across borders. Solving this problem has been a longstanding use-case of cryptocurrencies, and our project showcases it very nicely.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Web2 customers are curious to explore Web3 thanks to flywallet.

What we learned

The user experience is the key to mass adoption. If we manage to maintain the UX but improve the engine with Web3 then we win.

What's next for flywallet

We have started already implementing savings - crowd funding features on Polygon as well as sequence wallet full feature list. After that, we are aiming at onboarding all our partners and launching a global flights operators network using polygon supernets with NFT based ticket system and whole booking facilitated by smart contracts.
