Inspiration
We saw how much waste and lost value the luxury industry faces, with major brands having to change how they deal with unsold inventory because of new environmental rules. The rise of NFTs and blockchain made us wonder if these assets could be made liquid, shareable, and more sustainable.
What it does
The app demonstrates how luxury items like bags, shoes, and apparel could be split into tradable fractions as NFTs. Users can browse, explore prices, and see how a future system might let them buy, trade, and use these fractions, including for DeFi use cases.
How we built it
We used Next.js and Tailwind CSS to build a clean, modular frontend, focusing on the feel and the flexibility luxury brands would want. All data is static and there’s no real blockchain or backend yet—it's a fast demo of possible workflows.
Challenges we ran into
It took several attempts to represent real designer assets in a way that felt premium and clear on the web. We had to balance design polish against realistic demos, all without a live database or chain.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
The UI does a good job showing how fractional assets and pricing could work, and the overall concept has strong appeal for brands facing new circularity mandates.
What we learned
There's real appetite for blockchain tools in fashion, but user experience and flexibility matter as much as the underlying tech. Simple ideas land best with business teams.
What's next for Fly
We'll be testing with actual brands, building out smart contract support on Polkadot, and connecting the project to backend and wallet infrastructure so people can really try fractional buying and lending.
