Inspiration
The overall UI theme is inspired by a superheroes and a child-like spirit. Thus, the design is very family and user-friendly so it can be a tool not just used by air traffic controllers but also viewed by the general public. This could help with widening interest in this field/topic or just serve as a fun and vibrant way to observe data.
What it does
We read in the json files, stored the aircraft information from the file using a multi-class system, and implemented algorithms to form a second by second simulation of the flight trajectories. From the simulation, we were able to detect any intersecting aircrafts/flights with conflicts and then proposed potential solutions to minimize air traffic dangers with this data.
How we built it
The backend is done with Javascript and then HTML and CSS are used for the website layout. All the assets are hand-drawn/animated with Procreate.
Challenges we ran into
There was a bit of a learning curve Javascript because half of us had never used it before and the other half of us only had only worked with Javascript a little bit.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
For all four of us, this was our first hackathon, so we were happy to at least have a final project to show in the end.
What we learned
We furthered our basic knowledge of Javascript and learned how to plan a project within a team setting
What's next for Fly Safe
Implement the hotspot detection feature and go more in-depth on cost efficiency analysis
