Before I arrived in Michigan, one of my relatives was suffering through ALS. When I arrived in Michigan, they weren't anymore.

I designed Fly as an AI-powered tool to lessen the difficulty of everyday life for ALS patients. A caregiver simply needs to open a computer, turn on the camera, and place it in front of you, the patient.

From there, you can interact with anybody however you want, without tiring gestures. Want lunch? Gently tilt your head left and a text message is sent to your caregiver. Need to use the bathroom? Tilt your head right, and someone will come to help. In an emergency? Tilt your head upwards to automatically initiate a direct (Fly Hotline) call with your caregiver.

To make usage as straightforward and simple as possible, Fly is designed with a minimalist style. Fonts are huge and clearly visible, clear usage instructions are given to the caregiver and the patient, and the user need only make non-strenuous head tilts to do what they wish.

There are improvements that can be made. I could implement a direct 911 hotline call option in the Fly Hotline. The caregiver could be given the ability to add custom actions for the user.

Anything to grant the patient a nigh-lost sense of autonomy.
