Inspiration

I have always faced the issue as a student to continuously type questions into the search bar and query through , Which I always felt very inefficient . At first I tried to use alternative tools such as whisper flow But they didn't have that AI implementation So I worked on it for four months trying to build my own. Which I initially used and I started tweaking it so it's better.

What it does

It isn't a really complicated tool but it is such an essential tool and it has immense potential. When you use it, it blends into your life in such a way that you become dependent on it. And it literally saves you hours every day regardless, if your a student, developer, teacher, programmer or in finance. It doesn't really matter. It saves you time. If you are a person who types using the keyboard a lot and asks questions and queries a lot, it is One of the best tools you'll ever use.

How we built it

I built it using Tauri + Rust and Vite so its light on the RAM and is extremely fast. I am using a BYOK model with Groq API key because it is offering a really liberal sufficient credits - So any student can use it and plug in their own API key that they can create for free. And it's also because Groq models are crazy fast.

Challenges we ran into

At the beginning, I only used to make websites and I had no idea of building apps. I have never built a desktop app before. And in the process, I learned a lot of stuff. I worked on the app for approximately 4 months as well as maintaining my high school studies. I used a lot of AI tools to increase the speed of my development as well and to fill in my knowldeglessness in rust and tauri app development.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

So far, the MVP of my app is complete. I've tried sending emails to people, founders who would be interested in this, but I didn't get any replies. I got a few, but they were pretty ignorant. But this one has immense potential and I know it. Integrating various tools and this becomes ultimately a tool that every person using computer cannot be without.

What we learned

In the process I learned how to develop apps as I have the hunger to learn regardless of how complex it is. And I will work in any field regardless of the difficulty. I will try my best to put my app out there, so that people will use it. And its seriously solves real issues, since it actually arose with my personal problem.

What's next for Flunkey

The future is not defined this time and I hope so. I hope in some ways I will get users to use it and then it will explode. Since again this app has immense potential. It's a matter of time before people actually acknowledge it. And there are various apps in their rise who essentially have not identified this idea yet. But if they do, yeah, it's pretty much over. But yeah, I will continue and put everything in my ability to propagate this app to the right people and people will actually use it.
