Project Story: FluffyDuck - Restaurant Marketing and Reservations AI Agent

Inspiration

We're friends with several restaurant owners, and we've seen firsthand how tough it is for them to keep up with social media marketing and customer inquiries. They're amazing at making food and running their restaurants, but when it comes to the online world, they're swamped. Many of them are doing everything by hand: posting on social media, responding to emails, and answering the phone, all while trying to manage their busy restaurants. We wanted to build something that could help them thrive in the digital age. That's why we created FluffyDuck, the Restaurant Marketing and Reservations AI Agent.

What it does

FluffyDuck is an AI agent designed to automate and streamline a restaurant's online presence. It handles social media posting, responds to customer inquiries via email, and even answers basic phone questions. This frees up restaurant staff to focus on what they do best: creating great dining experiences. Our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) includes automated social media posts with text-to-speech and image/video generation, basic email responses, and simple phone interactions using AI voice responses.

How we built it

Our team (Abdullah, Jeron, and Zinan) divided the tasks. We used ElevenLabs for text-to-speech, fal API for image/video generation, and PostHog for tracking interactions. We also explored Pica for automating processes and Lovable for quick mockups. We set up API keys, created a basic project structure, and prepared sample restaurant data. The core of our project is the "Three Musketeers" – our Social Media Agent, Email Response Agent, and Phone Interaction Agent. We used Supabase for the database and Posthog for analytics.

Challenges we ran into

Time was our biggest challenge! Building a functional prototype in 24 hours meant making tough decisions about what to prioritize. Integrating the agents was also quite tricky.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're incredibly proud of building a working prototype that addresses a real problem for restaurant owners. Seeing our AI agent handle social media posts, answer emails, and respond to phone queries was very rewarding. We were also happy to integrate multiple technologies like ElevenLabs, fal, and Pica effectively.

What we learned

This hackathon taught us a lot about rapid development, API integration, and teamwork. We learned the importance of clear role assignments, effective communication, and being flexible when facing challenges. We also gained valuable insights into the specific needs of restaurant owners and the potential of AI to help them.

What's next for FluffyDuck - Restaurant Marketing and Reservations AI Agent

We see a lot of potential for FluffyDuck. We want to expand its capabilities to handle more complex inquiries, personalize interactions, and provide deeper analytics. We plan to refine the UI/UX based on user feedback and explore further integrations with other platforms. Ultimately, we want FluffyDuck to be an indispensable tool for restaurant owners looking to thrive in the digital age.
