Inspiration
FlowScope was born out of a deeply personal experience. I lost my grandma to a silent heart attack — one moment she was fine, and the next she was gone. The shock of her sudden passing made me realize how critical it is to have early warning signs for heart health. This inspired me to create a tool that can monitor heart metrics, provide insights, and give users the chance to take action before it's too late.
What it does
FlowScope is an AI-powered heart health app that tracks key heart metrics such as heart rate, ECG patterns, and overall wellness. The app provides real-time insights, alerts users to any potential risks, and offers doctor-ready reports. With features like a chatbot assistant, heart history tracker, and live monitoring, it empowers users to manage their heart health proactively.
How we built it
We developed FlowScope using a combination of modern technologies, with Replit as our primary development environment for both frontend and backend. Frontend: React for building a dynamic and responsive user interface that offers a seamless experience for users. Backend: Node.js and Express for efficient server-side operations, ensuring smooth communication between the app and the database. Database: PostgreSQL for reliable, scalable data storage, allowing us to manage and retrieve user data effectively. AI Model: TensorFlow for analyzing heart health data and providing actionable insights. Replit allowed us to work collaboratively in real-time, making it easy to prototype, test, and deploy our application quickly. We also integrated APIs from health platforms like Apple Health and Google Fit to gather real-time data, ensuring seamless connectivity with wearables and fitness trackers.
Challenges we ran into
From a wide array of challenges that we ran into, some include time constraints with planning and execution of our idea, lack of experience in the team, and lack of free premium resources.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an intuitive, user-friendly interface that makes complex heart health data accessible to everyday users. Successfully integrating with multiple health platforms (Apple Health, Google Fit, etc.).
What we learned
The importance of data privacy and security, especially when dealing with sensitive health information. How to build a scalable app that can handle real-time data processing and provide personalized, actionable insights. The power of AI in health monitoring and how it can bridge the gap between user awareness and actionable health management.
What's next for FLOWSCOPE
Moving forward, we plan to expand FlowScope's capabilities by adding more features like Enhanced AI-driven heart health predictions based on deeper historical data, integration with more wearable devices to broaden compatibility, and exploring partnerships with healthcare providers to offer a more comprehensive, doctor-assisted solution.
