Inspiration

Stablecoins make cross-border settlement faster and cheaper, but choosing the right route is still difficult. Users must compare chains, bridges, exchange-rate timing, fees, compliance risks, and recipient addresses.

We wanted to build a safer AI agent for this real-world payment problem: an agent that can reason and recommend, but cannot independently authorize a transfer.

What it does

FlowPilot is a safety-first Web3 application and AI agent for cross-border USDC payment planning.

A user describes a payment goal in natural language. FlowPilot then:

  1. Extracts the payment intent.
  2. Compares routes and estimated costs.
  3. Provides a GARCH(1,1) FX volatility forecast.
  4. Screens the recipient address.
  5. Requests explicit confirmation of the exact amount and recipient.
  6. Applies a model-independent transfer policy.
  7. Stores an auditable execution record.

The demo runs on Base Sepolia testnet. Fiat route values are labelled demo estimates, and live transfers are disabled by default.

How we built it

FlowPilot was built with Next.js, React, TypeScript, Tailwind CSS, SQLite, Claude tool use, viem, and Base Sepolia.

The agent follows this workflow:

intent extraction → route comparison → FX forecast → address screening → confirmation → policy-gated execution

The final authorization step is implemented in lib/transferPolicy.ts, outside the model prompt. The policy checks the exact amount, recipient address, explicit confirmation, and same-turn compliance screening.

The FX module uses historical exchange-rate data and GARCH(1,1) forecasting. The interface supports English, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was separating model reasoning from financial authorization. A prompt can instruct a model to be careful, but it cannot be the final security boundary.

We also had to solve:

  • TypeScript issues during internationalization.
  • Agent responses not matching the selected UI language.
  • Structured intent output being truncated by model thinking tokens.
  • Synchronizing narration, subtitles, and animated scenes.
  • Preserving contrast in the light interface.
  • Making the demo safe when wallet credentials are unavailable.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Built a complete natural-language-to-payment workflow.
  • Added a model-independent transfer policy gate.
  • Added automated transfer-policy tests.
  • Added GARCH(1,1) FX forecasts instead of placeholder values.
  • Added multilingual UI and language-aware agent responses.
  • Added user-scoped SQLite audit records.
  • Added recipient screening before execution.
  • Added simulation-first Base Sepolia support.
  • Created an 83-second demo video with natural narration, synchronized subtitles, and the final FlowPilot logo.
  • Published a reproducible Git history and production build.

What we learned

We learned that an AI agent should not be treated as a financial authorization system.

The model is useful for interpreting intent, comparing options, and explaining trade-offs. Authorization must instead be deterministic, explicit, auditable, and independent of model behaviour.

We also learned that trustworthy financial UX requires showing uncertainty and limitations clearly. Forecasts must be labelled as forecasts, demo route prices must not look like live quotes, and simulated transactions must never be presented as real blockchain transactions.

What's next for FlowPilot

  • Connect the route engine to live LI.FI quotes.
  • Complete a verified Base Sepolia testnet transfer with a public explorer link.
  • Add production-grade persistent storage and observability.
  • Support account abstraction and smart-wallet authorization.
  • Add stronger sanctions and compliance data sources.
  • Add more languages and regional payment rails.
  • Add human-in-the-loop approval for higher-risk transfers.
  • Improve FX forecasting with richer market data.
