Inspiration

The inspiration behind creating a web3 Flow blockchain-based platform for crowdfunding stemmed from recognizing the potential of blockchain technology to revolutionize traditional crowdfunding models. We were inspired by the decentralization, transparency, and security offered by blockchain, which could address many of the challenges faced by conventional crowdfunding platforms.

What it does

Our platform lets people raise money for their projects through crowdfunding, but with a twist. Instead of using traditional methods, like credit cards or bank transfers, our platform uses Flow tokens, which automatically execute when certain conditions are met. This adds an extra layer of security and transparency to the crowdfunding process.

How we built it

We built the platform by using Flow blockchain and Next.js. Then, we created a user-friendly website where people can create their crowdfunding campaigns and others can contribute to them.

Challenges we ran into

  • Faced difficulty installing Flow CLI on my windows machine. Had to use WSL, which completely worked fine.
  • Faced bugs in the contract while deploying it to the Flow testnet.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Developed Flowfund, a crowdfunding platform on Flow blockchain.
  • Implemented pay via Flow token functionality.
  • Learned how Flow blockchains works under the hood.

What we learned

  • Learned to write smart contract with Cadence.
  • Learned Flow CLI
  • Learned the usage of testnet and emulator.

What's next for Flowfund

  • Flowfund is looking to expand with addition of more features.
  • Implementation of providing NFT tokens to the individuals who contributes to the campaigns listed.
