Inspiration

Travel planning today is either too complicated or too fragmented across multiple apps and websites. We wanted to imagine what the future of travel planning could look like—something that feels premium, fast, intelligent, and effortless. FlowFree was inspired by the idea of combining smart trip planning, beautiful design, and a smooth booking experience into a single futuristic platform. The goal was simple: make planning a trip feel as exciting as taking the trip itself.

What it does

FlowFree is an all-in-one travel planning platform that helps users plan smarter and travel better. Users can search for flights and hotels, explore destinations on an interactive world map, create trips using a smart AI-powered (simulated) trip planner, manage wishlists and bookings, and go through a futuristic booking flow. The platform generates structured itineraries based on destination, duration, travel style, and interests, and presents everything in a clean, modern, and immersive UI.

How we built it

We built FlowFree as a single-page application using React, TypeScript, Vite, and Tailwind CSS with a strong focus on UI/UX and animations. Framer Motion is used for smooth transitions and interactions, D3.js renders an interactive world map, and Supabase (or a mock system) handles authentication. The AI trip planner uses deterministic, rule-based logic with simulated delays to feel intelligent while staying reliable. State is synced using local storage to persist user sessions, trips, and preferences.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a complex app while keeping the user experience simple and intuitive. Building custom components like the city search, date picker, and multi-step booking flow required careful state management and UI coordination. Another challenge was making the AI planner feel “smart” without using real backend AI logic, while still keeping the results consistent and useful.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating a polished, futuristic UI with smooth animations and a strong visual identity. The AI trip planner, booking flow, and interactive world map come together to form a cohesive product experience. We also successfully implemented a fully functional demo experience with login, persistence, wishlist, trips, and simulated bookings that feels like a real product.

What we learned

We learned how to design and structure a complex frontend application, manage global state, and build reusable UI components. We also gained experience in creating product-like flows, simulating backend behavior, and balancing performance, design, and usability. Most importantly, we learned how much thoughtful UI/UX can transform a simple idea into a compelling experience.

What's next for FlowFree

Next, we want to integrate real APIs for flights, hotels, and maps, and connect the AI planner to a real AI backend for truly personalized trips. We also plan to add user profiles, social features, collaborative trip planning, and real payment integration to move FlowFree from a demo platform into a production-ready travel product.
