Inspiration
We noticed on the news that many women struggled with finding the best treatment for their health issues. This led us to dive into researching medical misogyny, the phenomenon in which women’s health problems are dismissed by medical professionals. We want to address gender inequality within healthcare.
What it does
FlowTrack is a smart app that tracks menstrual symptoms and uses AI to provide personalized health insights, helping women detect various issues early and communicate better with doctors.
How we built it
We developed a user-friendly app where women can log symptoms in regards to their menstrual cycle and upload images. With the use of AI, the app analyzes this data to generate reports and cycle predictions, all designed with privacy and accuracy in mind.
Challenges we ran into
We initially struggled with brainstorming impactful ideas because we wanted to create something meaningful that addressed a real problem. Once we identified the gap in women’s healthcare, especially around menstrual health, the rest of the project came together smoothly. We also faced challenges with shortening our information because there was a lot of research and insight we wanted to include, and it was difficult to simplify without losing depth.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
One accomplishment we’re proud of is how well our app layout came together, as it is clear, user-friendly, and thoughtfully designed to guide women through tracking their health. We’re also proud of building a tool that empowers users and addresses real challenges in women’s healthcare.
What we learned
We learned that designing for sensitive health topics requires careful planning and consideration for users. We discovered how technology can be used to address gender inequality in healthcare. Additionally, we realized the importance of making complex health data clear, accurate, and easily to use.
What's next for FlowTrack
We aim to enhance AI’s predictive power to cover a wider range of menstrual health conditions and offer even deeper personalized recommendations. We also plan to integrate a feature that allows users to consult with healthcare professionals directly through the app, saving both time and money.
