Inspiration

After working with countless business teams, I kept seeing the same frustrating roadblock: the barrier between having data and getting actionable insights. People would say "We have all this data, but we need a data scientist just to ask basic questions." When I discovered Bolt.new's $75k "Make More Money Challenge," I knew exactly what to build: a BI tool that understands plain English and delivers professional insights instantly.

What it does

FlowBI transforms data analysis from a technical challenge into a natural conversation. Currently live at flowbi.eu with production deployment, users simply:

  • Upload their data via drag-and-drop interface
  • Ask questions in plain English like "Show me sales trends by region"
  • Get instant professional insights with dynamic charts and contextual analysis
  • Receive smart follow-up suggestions to guide deeper exploration
  • Access advanced pattern recognition with anomaly detection and temporal analysis

The system uses a sophisticated multi-agent architecture with 5 specialized AI agents working together: Query Understanding, Data Analysis, Response Generation, Data Management, and Verification agents. This creates genuinely intelligent responses, not just basic chart generation.

How we built it

Multi-Agent Foundation

  • Built sophisticated 5-agent architecture with TypeScript and React
  • Created intelligent CSV parsing with automatic data profiling and type detection

Challenges we ran into

  • CSV Complexity: Real-world CSV files are messy - building robust parsing that handles encoding issues, delimiter detection, data type inference, and missing data
  • Chart Intelligence: Making the system automatically choose optimal visualizations based on query intent and data characteristics rather than defaulting to basic charts
  • Response Quality: Ensuring the AI provides genuinely helpful business insights and actionable recommendations, not generic observations
  • Production Performance: Maintaining sub-5-second response times while running complex multi-agent analysis on production deployment with real users
