After hearing from NWG about their job management system for engineers, we found that we can possibly optimize the process by building an integrated platform for it. We also wanted to challenge ourselves as non Computer Science students by diving into both the front end work and back end work.
What it does
This task management system connected users who post issues and the people who solve them by designing a simple app that can receive submissions from users, the submissions go into a administration system that will flag the tasks in different ways, depending on the type of the user. Hopefully a system like this can reduce costs and help increase the adoption of programs created by NWG between customers in the future.
How we built it
We used python flask and firebase for the back-end, swift for the IOS implementation of the app, and Kotlin/XML for the android implementation of the app.
Challenges we ran into
It was the first time that many of us have tried to connect firebase to our system, and also we had some challenges trying to implement the design
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud that we have scrambled to create something like this in around 10 hours. Moreover, it was great to come together and use the skills that we had collaboratively for the first time.
What we learned
What's next for Flow - Task Management System for NWG
We would love to improve our systems further, fleshing out the back end and implementing the design to what we aimed for it to be.
