Inspiration

Flow was inspired by a real problem at home. My father owns a business, and creating product posters is a frequent requirement for promotions. These posters were usually designed manually by me, which was time-consuming and difficult to scale. I wanted to build a solution that could automate poster creation while still producing professional, commercial-quality results. This personal need motivated me to create Flow so that small businesses like my father’s could benefit from AI-powered design.

What it does

Flow is an AI-powered marketing poster generator that transforms product images into professional advertising posters. Users upload a product image, provide basic brand details, and Flow uses Google Gemini AI to generate studio-quality visuals along with intelligent marketing copy. Users can fine-tune the output using an advanced Director Mode and export high-resolution posters ready for print or digital platforms.

How we built it

Flow is built using React with TypeScript for the frontend and styled with Tailwind CSS. The core intelligence comes from Google Gemini AI, which is used in a two-step process: first analyzing the product image and context, then generating enhanced visuals and persuasive marketing copy. Poster export is handled using html2canvas, allowing users to download high-quality PNG files. Professional typography is implemented using Google Fonts.

Challenges we ran into

One major challenge was ensuring the posters looked commercially professional rather than generically AI-generated. Preserving accurate product colors while generating dramatic backgrounds required careful prompt tuning and multiple iterations. Another challenge was balancing automation with user control, which led to the design of the Director Mode without overwhelming the user.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Built a real-world solution inspired by an actual business need

Successfully combined image understanding and marketing copy generation using Gemini AI

Created an intuitive Director Mode that offers creative control without complexity

Delivered export-ready, high-resolution posters suitable for real marketing use

What we learned

This project helped us understand how to design structured AI workflows instead of relying on single-step generation. We learned effective prompt engineering, constraint-based generation, and how to integrate AI into production-ready web applications. We also learned the importance of user-centric design when building creative tools.

What's next for Flow

Future plans include animated and video posters, brand kits for consistent colors and fonts, social media–optimized formats, and multi-language poster generation. We aim to evolve Flow into a complete AI-powered creative assistant for small businesses and marketers.
