Inspiration
We took inspiration from https://www.queeringthemap.com. Everyone in our group is apart of the Queer community, and at one or more points in our lives, we have hit lows. Many of us have went through times where we needed a nice message, wanted to take care of ourselves, or even wanted to help others. Flourish allows for us to meet other Queer people, and helps those who struggle with their identity to grow a flower, get advice, and leave a message.
What it does
Our application has users complete tasks that promote their own physical/mental health to grow flowers. These flowers can then be planted in a garden that represents a community of people as they help support each other grow.
How we built it
We built it using Google Maps API, React, Tailwind, Procreate, and Bootstrap.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled with the Google Maps API and needing to learn Tailwind in an efficient manner. However, we eventually understood the syntax and our work sped up when we understood it better.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our website, the effort we put in, and the love that went into it.
What we learned
We learned a lot about ourselves more than anything, realizing that a lot of what we wanted was support and wanting to help others. Learning to use Tailwind to show off and style the website how we want it, and react as well.
What's next for Flourish
We intend to make it into a full blown app, with monthly updates.
