What it does
Our website provides parents with easy-to-access, comprehensive resources for teaching their children sex education. It offers age-appropriate, inclusive content on topics like consent, relationships, and personal health, empowering parents to have open, informed conversations that align with their values.
How we built it
We built the app using JavaScript, CSS, and React for seamless functionality and a user-friendly interface. Figma was used for designing an intuitive, visually appealing user experience.
Challenges we ran into
We struggled to translate our inspiration into a clear roadmap for building an interactive website. While we had a strong vision, it was challenging to define the steps needed to bring our ideas to life, from design to functionality. Creating an engaging, user-friendly platform required careful planning and coordination across multiple aspects, which was more difficult than anticipated.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud to have overcome our challenges and built a functional website for the first time, in a short time, with multiple pages and interactive buttons, all designed to be engaging and appropriate for children.
What we learned
We learned the various languages used to create a website, focusing primarily on front-end coding. This helped us build a functional, multi-page site with interactive features tailored for children.
What's next for Florida Birds and Bees
Next, we plan to add a section for parents, allowing them to both teach their kids and learn about puberty and sex education themselves. We also aim to incorporate interactive games and rewards for kids, unlocking when they complete tasks and quizzes on the site.
