Inspiration

The idea for FloraFriend came from a very real problem: we love our plants, but life often gets in the way. We noticed that while people are constantly glued to their digital habits, their physical plants are often left behind. We wanted to bridge this gap by creating a "Digital Oasis." Our goal was to make looking after a real-life garden feel as fun and rewarding as a game, turning a daily chore into a highlight of your day.

What it does

FloraFriend acts as a digital coach for your plants, connecting your physical garden to a virtual sanctuary.

  1. Gamified Care: When you do things like water your plants or log milestones, you earn digital credits (\text{C}_{reward}) to grow your virtual garden and also to buy real seeds from the marketplace.
  2. AI-Powered Health: It features a smart two-stage AI Plant Disease Guide that identifies your plant species and gives you a precision diagnosis for any issues.
  3. Smart Tools: The app uses a Weather Inquiry Plugin for local tips and an AI Search Plugin for lightning-fast health advice.
  4. Personalized Journaling: You can track growth and save AI reports within a beautiful "Aesthetic Green" dashboard.

How we built it

We built the entire ecosystem using MeDo as our primary engine. Instead of manual coding, we used high-level English prompts to guide the development.

  • Prompt-Based Generation: MeDo handled everything from the UI/UX design to the complex backend databases.
  • Design System: We used professional typography like Plus Jakarta Sans and Fraunces to give it a premium feel.
  • Data Security: MeDo ensured strict data isolation, so every user's plant journal and credit history is completely secure.
  • Plugins: We extended the app's power using built-in tools for real-time weather and AI-driven searches.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest hurdle was definitely the AI diagnosis system. We didn't want generic advice, so we had to perfect a two-step process where the AI first identifies the species before diagnosing the disease. We also spent a lot of time balancing the credit-based economy; we wanted the rewards to feel meaningful without making the app feel like just a game.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are incredibly proud of the AI Plant Disease Guide. It’s more than just a scanner; it provides a detailed report with symptoms, causes, and step-by-step treatments. We’re also thrilled with the visual consistency MeDo achieved; the transition between the landing page and the dashboard feels seamless and professional in both Light and Dark modes.

What we learned

This project was a huge lesson in the power of Generative UI. Using MeDo showed us that we could turn complex ideas into a working app faster than ever. We also learned how much gamification can actually improve real-world habits—seeing how a few bonus credits can motivate someone to keep their real plants healthy was eye-opening.

What's next for FloraFriend

The roadmap for FloraFriend is growing fast:

  1. Community Feed: A place for gardeners to share success stories and tips.
  2. Advanced AI: Real-time identification via camera and predictive health alerts.
  3. Smart Home: Integrating with automated watering systems to help care for plants directly.
  4. Mobile App: Bringing the "Digital Oasis" to iOS and Android for on-the-go plant care.
