Inspiration

We were inspired by film cameras and how they shoot once and remember later. We decided to capture plants to help educate our community about local flora, especially in Hamilton with over 1000 species.

What it does

By using a Gopro, we shoot pictures outdoors and our website automatically uploads and scans the photos for plants in the regions.

Challenges we ran into

Originally, we were going to implement more hardware and make a custom camera with a Raspberry Pi 5 and camera module but were restricted due to the demand from the hardware requests. As a back up, we pivoted to the GoPro which made WiFi connections more seamless.
