Inspiration

Many people love buying plants but struggle to keep them alive. Busy routines, lack of plant knowledge, and inconsistent care often lead to neglected or dying plants. We were inspired by the idea of helping people rediscover and reconnect with their forgotten plants using AI and smart technology. FloraCare AI was born from the belief that plant care should feel simple, friendly, and stress-free.

What it does

FloraCare AI is an intelligent plant care assistant that monitors plant health and provides personalized care guidance. Using sensors and AI analysis, the system detects plant stress early, sends smart reminders, and helps users revive neglected plants before it’s too late.

How we built it

We started by researching common plant care problems and mapping user journeys. After identifying key pain points, we designed the product experience and interface in Figma.

The system concept combines:

IoT sensors to collect environmental data An AI recommendation engine to analyze plant health A mobile/web dashboard for reminders and care tips

The AI uses collected data to detect plant stress early and provide personalized care instructions.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was designing a system that feels intelligent but remains simple for beginners. Plant care can be complex, but the user experience must stay easy and friendly.

Another challenge was designing meaningful notifications. Too many alerts can overwhelm users, while too few can lead to plant neglect. Finding the right balance was critical.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully turned a common everyday problem into a meaningful AI-driven solution. We built a clear user journey, designed a complete prototype, and aligned the idea strongly with the “Lost & Found” theme by helping users rediscover and revive forgotten plants.

What we learned

This project taught us how powerful user-centered design can be. We learned how to translate a real-world problem into a digital product experience and how AI can be integrated into everyday life in a meaningful way. We also explored how IoT data and user behavior can work together to generate personalized recommendations.

We even explored how environmental factors affect plant health mathematically. For example, plant hydration can be simplified as:

Plant Health∝f(M,L,T,H)

Where:

M = Soil moisture L = Light exposure T = Temperature H = Humidity

Balancing these variables helped shape the product’s recommendation logic.

What's next for FloraCare AI

Next steps include building a functional prototype, integrating computer vision for plant disease detection, and testing the product with real users. Our long-term goal is to create a smart ecosystem that makes plant care accessible to everyone.
