What it does

FloodSense BD is an AI-powered flood risk intelligence web application designed to help people in Bangladesh understand potential flood risks in their region in a simple and accessible way. Every year, floods affect millions of people across Bangladesh, but critical climate and satellite data often remain difficult for the general public to interpret. FloodSense BD addresses this gap by transforming complex environmental data into clear, actionable flood risk insights. Users can select any district in Bangladesh, and the system retrieves relevant climate and disaster data using NASA APIs, including historical flood events from the NASA EONET system and rainfall and climate patterns from the NASA POWER dataset. This data is then processed and analyzed using the Gemini API, which generates a localized flood risk assessment.
