Inspiration
Inspiration comes from a variety of games that we play, many of which came from game jams themselves! A major example is Celeste, but Mario and Move or Die were inspiring as well.
How we built it
We wrote the Lua Script in VSCode, and the game is run in the Love2D engine. The level was made using Tiled, and the art was drawn with an online pixel art editor.
Challenges we ran into
Setting up a tileset for Tiled posed a bit of an issue, because of how each asset was drawn individually. However, we combined all the images together and solved our problem. We also ran into trouble with time, and had to abandon some details we wanted.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We're proud of all the art we made, the concept and the character controller, since it flows very fluidly.
What we learned
We learned more about using Love and Lua, and better techniques for crunching under time pressure.
What's next for Floaty Physics Doesn't Make Good Gameplay
It's very likely we will expand on the gameplay, adding more levels, mechanics, art and more.
