Inspiration
I got the inspiration from the joy and beauty of spring gardens. I wanted to create a space where gardener could learn about and engage with a variety of spring flowers.
What it does
Flora Follies is an interactive web app that allows user to explore and select spring flowers to plant in their virtual garden. Each flower comes with detailed information including how to plant, fun facts, tips, etc. Users can add flowers to their digital garden called "Garden", track the days since planting, access a care guide, and also write a personal notes for each flower. This helps gardeners manage their plants effectively.
How we built it
I build this project entirely on React and hosted it on Vercel. My main focus for this web app is to create a user-friendly interface with engaging visuals to make the experience of learning about spring flowers enjoyable and fun.
Challenges we ran into
One major challenge was making it responsive to fit all device screens. Some device screen fits well and look perfect but some don't.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of this app features that not only adds a playful element but also serves as a practical tool for gardeners to track their plants' growth and get some tips on how to plant it.
What we learned
I have learned a lot about user interface design like making the app responsive as possible and also deepened my knowledge on plant species.
What's next for Flora Follies
I plan to expand the flowers data to include more varieties of flowers and plants. I also wanted to implement social media feeds that users can post about their plant/flowers.
