Inspiration

I just wanted to learn how to design and build an ios app, since I have never done so in the past. I thought treehacks would be a great time for me to spend some time learning how to! I wasn't looking to build anything complex; was mainly looking just to learn something new.

What it does

Flix is an app that allows users to browse current movies being played from the The Movie Database API.

Challenges I ran into

I have zero experience with ios development, so it took me some time to get the hang of xcode and swift, two things I just learned at treehacks. I spent a lot of time googling to figure out how to use both. Formatting the data received from the API took a while for me and I turned to a few websites to see how typical ios apps look like. I spend a lot of time on my phone, but it wasn't until I built my first app that I realized there are a lot of similarities between ios apps.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

I was originally going to build something else with a partner, but unfortunately, my partner couldn't make it last minute :( so I am glad I took the time to learn some new stuff, since I have been busy in school. I will definitely continue learning more about ios development.
