Inspiration

The inspiration behind Flipping World is to make environmental knowledge accessible and engaging. Instead of lengthy articles or complex scientific explanations, we use a card-flipping format to help users learn about crucial ecological topics through bite-sized, interactive cards.

What it does

Flipping World allows users to upload PDFs, generating memory cards focused on environmental content. These cards simplify complex information into digestible, easy-to-remember pieces, presented in a mind-map format that users can review, share, and learn from collaboratively.

How we built it

We built Flipping World using a knowledge extraction pipeline that processes uploaded PDFs, breaking down the content into key concepts. The system then structures these concepts into digital memory cards displayed as mind maps or flashcards, making it easy for users to review and retain information.

Challenges we ran into

One key challenge was creating an efficient, scalable system to accurately extract and organize content from diverse PDF formats. We also aimed to maintain a clean, intuitive interface that keeps the learning process light and accessible for users.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud of creating an engaging learning tool that not only simplifies environmental topics but also encourages users to retain and share this knowledge. Additionally, we successfully integrated mind-mapping and card-flipping features for an interactive user experience.

What we learned

Through Flipping World, we learned the importance of combining environmental education with user-friendly design. Presenting information in small, interactive parts can make complex topics more engaging and accessible, leading to a greater overall impact.

What's next for Flipping World

Our next steps include adding automated quiz questions based on uploaded content, along with auto-grading features and can host some competition activity. We also plan to expand our environmental database and provide personalized suggestions to users, enhancing both their learning journey and our positive environmental impact.
